Abstract

The present article analyzes the character of Hermione Granger from The Harry Potter Series, taking a feminist stance and considering feminist, queer and non-essentialist theories. In this essay, the feminist nature of Hermione’s character is explored, discussing the nature and portrayal of female characters in children’s literature.

Valentina Rivera, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile

Valentina is a Bachelor in English Literature and Linguistics from Pontificia Universidad de Chile. She is currently getting a teaching degree from the same university. Her main interests lie within children’s literature, cultural studies and gender studies. She is also very interested in reading promotion and hopes to get involved in projects alike in the future
