Abstract

Gonzalo Rojas maintained that the Romanian poet Paul Celan was his doble. What does such a statement mean? It is necessary to trace their respective poetic works to find coincidences that do not mean an influence of one on the other. Gonzalo Rojas came to know the work of Paul Celan late in his life and believed he recognized in it the dismembering of language, as well as the objectives in his conception of poetry’s destiny. The strangest thing is that this close and unexpected relationship between the two poets is not limited to poetry; it also concerns life itself. These coincidences that go beyond the work are what the article seeks to show.
