Abstract

This article compares textual and editorial material produced in relation to Catalina de Erauso, la monja alférez (the second-lieutenant nun), to the thesis of a national literature José Victorino Lastarria proposes in his “inaugural speech” and to the textual and counter-textual processes, occurring in the versions by Carlos Keller (1972), Juanita Gallardo (2004) and Carmen Boullosa (1994), among others.
