Keys to secret doors... New facts toward the understanding of Vicente Huidobro's Gilles de Raiz

Abstract

In this article I interpret the dramatic piece Gilles de Raiz by Chilean author Vicente Huidobro. I bring into consideration the European cultural context and some of the author's autobiographical traits which are frequently forgotten, but which draw attention to the resemblance between Huidobro's play and Antonin Artaud's idea of "théâfre de la cruauté" (theatre of cruelty).
